Error Message when Abraquest Starts
If you don't have Abraquest Software Assurance and receive "'You should connect to the internet in order to obtain access to Abraquest Online and related services" when starting Abraquest, this post explains what to do to remove this message.
Abraquest Software Assurance provides support and free updates, along with a number of other features, for £150 + VAT per year.
We are continually adding new features into Abraquest, and also new things into the Assurance, while keeping the price the same, in order to encourage every customer to at least go for Abraquest Software Assurance (not everybody goes for Abraquest Automated Backup because some schools have their own dedicated IT teams responsible for backups).
Unfortunately a problem has occured in some versions of Abraquest where you get this message coming up on Abraquest start, when the PC is in fact connected to the internet, its just that the software assurance has run out.
If you don't want to renew software assurance, ask your IT to do the following:
1. Find the file SchoolLibraryConfig.xml, which lives in c:\program files\spherical software\abraquest\db. This is your configuration file which Abraquest uses at startup.
2. Add the following line to this file <AbraquestOnlineEnabled>true</AbraquestOnlineEnabled>
3. Save the file.
4. Run Abraquest. If a nasty message comes up and Abraquest doesn't start, it means you have made a typo, so you can delete the line you have just added and try again.
