Abraquest Installation Procedure for Secured Networks

Abraquest documentation has been recently updated to be clearer for schools whose librarians cannot install software without enlisting the help of IT admin. This post summarises this installation process for librarians and IT staff.

Many schools have the school network secured by the IT department such that it is not possible to install a program such as Abraquest without being logged in as administrator. So this is obviously a job for IT support.

The initial install of Abraquest is slightly more involved, but a setting can be set by IT so that Abraquest just reminds the user when an update is available, rather than prompting to install it.

When asked by the librarian, IT will then download the latest 30 day trial version of Abraquest, and install it "over the top" of the existing installation. This will upgrade Abraquest to the latest version.

The Abraquest Getting Started Guide has been updated with a new section that explains this process in detail. It is titled "Abraquest Admin Install". This and the following section in that guide explain the process in detail.
