Abraquest spine labels

Abraquest Spine Label Options

The next release of Abraquest will have four options for printing spine labels, instead of the two currently available. There are also the letter labels for fiction books that we can provide. This post explains the options available.

Abraquest could traditionally print spine labels for non fiction books. There were two options - with a background based on "colour rules" and a white background.

The colour rules assign colours to different ranges of Dewey Numbers, and can print labels that look like this:

Abraquest spine labels with dewey number

This was about the only option in Abraquest previously, unless you wanted the same but with white backgrounds (typically if you were using a mono printer).

As of the next release, you can have the above option, but with smaller use of colour:

Abraquest spine labels with dewey - new format

There is also another option that allows author details to be printed in the middle rather than the dewey:

Abraquest spine labels showing last three characters of authors name rather than dewey

This is also available in the alternative format as well:

Abraquest spine labels showing last three characters of authers name rather than dewey - alterernative format

All these options are available from the Books option in System Admin. They also allow spine labels to be printed for Fiction, so if for example you want the second format for fiction and the first for non fiction, then you select the books you want the labels for and select the appropriate option to print.

Of course, we are always happy to provide these labels for you from a copy of your database. We also can provide the big letters in spine label form - typically used for the first character of the authors surname for fiction books.

If you do print yourself, please ensure you have a system for providing protective cover to the label as labels on the spine can get worn quite quickly. We provide a protective clear label to go over the top of the printed label.

If you would like to know more about spine labels please contact us using the contact page or one of the other means.
